Bicycle tour of Frans Halsbuurt - a parking-free neighbourhood in Amsterdam

In 2018, the Frans Halsbuurt neighbourhood in De Pijp, Amsterdam was make parking-free. Street parking for cars was removed and turned into bicycle parking, gardens, playgrounds, loading zones, and handicapped parking. An underground parking garage was created for residents' and visitors' vehicles.

The city of Amsterdam is planning a larger re-design of this neighbourhood, but this video shows the current state, one year after car parking was removed. Plants have started growing in the gardens and the bicycle parking is well used.

The final implementation of the street will start in September 2020.
