Restoring old Stanley No. 151 spokeshave - Tool restoration

This time I will be restoring an old Stanley no. 151 spokeshave. The tool had some rust, the paint was coming off, it had some a lot of paint drops on it and the blade was extremely dull and a little uneven. I repainted the body, removed the rust and sharpened the blade.

After disassembly I dumped the unpainted parts in vinegar until they the rust had come off. I thought I'd use wirebrush to remove rest of the oxidation but I quickly came to the conclusion wirewheel will get me better results.

I used heat gun to strip the paint from the body. After burning the paint it came right off with a wirewheel. After this I painted the base coat with gray primer. I finished with coat was a black 2K automotive paint. The final surface is obviopusly npot perfectly smooth because of the cast iron surface the spokeshave has.

I used a flat surface to flatten and sharpen the edge on it. I used the same setup to clean up the bottom of the spokeshave. It was in good condition so no actual flattening was needed.
