how to tell a story
minimalism
Like I said, I watched Alien for the first time recently, and one thing that struck me was how they never outright explained anything, but if you were just paying attention, it was mostly all there.
I just think movie and game studios really underestimate their audiences. They feel that everything has to be explained and repeated over and over again.
I mean, maybe that's what sells... I guess.
There's really an art to telling a story without just... well, telling it.
Using the environment, character's expressions, things in their house, etc to tell us who they are, what they're doing, why they are doing it
Sure, it takes talent and a deep understanding of how to tell a story, but I think these types of movies are the ones that tend to stand the test of time.
Anyway, I was on vacation for a few days, so this video is very simple. But, I thought it turned out pretty good. Next week's will be more... visually ambitious? I guess.
