Custodians of the Peaks

John Craven and Charlotte Smith are in the Peak District National Park, famed for its breathtaking landscapes and wildlife. But despite its wild and rugged appearance, there’s a huge amount of work needed to protect it. John spends the day as a ranger and meets volunteers who have devoted years to caring for this landscape. Charlotte jumps on a bike to explore an accessible cycling route and heads out across the moors with a scientist monitoring one of the park's most elusive residents – the mountain hare. Adam Henson is also in the Peaks to see what happens when farmers stop going it alone and start working together.
