Transcript:
Ages ago, humans and monsters lived in harmony, but when they discovered souls could be absorbed, humans worried the monsters would attack them to grow more powerful. Rather than check, console or flirt about it, they attacked the monsters starting The War.
The humans defeated the monsters, then sealed them deep below Mount Ebott with a magical barrier. Though any being could cross into the Underground, none could return unless they possessed a human/monster soul fusion or had collected seven human souls.
Proving to be good sports about the whole war thing, the monsters lived happily for many years beneath Mount Ebbott under Asgore and Toriel, former Nose-Nuzzling champions and King and Queen of the Underground. But one day, Asgore declared war on humanity and began collecting the souls of any humans that wandered into the Underground. When Asgore had collected six souls, Toriel stationed herself in the Ruins to save stray humans and deny her former husband the seventh and final soul.
As the latest human child to fall into the Underground, you'll have to disobey Toriel's protective mothering in order to discover the dark story behind the King's hatred of humanity, but be careful because in the Underground, it's kill or be friends.
