In the town of Tree Hill, Dan Scott is the father of two teenagers: Lucas and Nathan. But they don't have the same mother.
Dan abandoned Karen when she was pregnant with Lucas at the end of high school, before meeting and marrying Nathan's future mother, Deborah, in college. Lucas was raised by his mother Karen, alone, with the help of Dan's brother Keith.
Lucas and Nathan are on the same high school basketball team, the Ravens.
As the basketball championship begins, the rivalry between Lucas and Nathan is great. On the court, but also in private life, because Lucas falls in love with Peyton, Brooke's girlfriend, who is dating Nathan.
In addition, Lucas' childhood friend Haley falls for Nathan and brings the half-brothers closer together.
