Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey), 30, and her children Virginia aka Ginny (Antonia Gentry), 15, and Austin (Diesel La Torraca), 9, move to Wellsbury, Massachusetts.
Georgia's wealthy husband, Kenny, has just died in a car accident. But the inheritance is in jeopardy, as Kenny's ex-wife contests the will.
Upon arriving in Wellsbury, Georgia takes an interest in the town's mayor, Paul Randolph (Scott Porter), and gets a job at City Hall.

Meanwhile, Ginny finds a friend in Wellsbury, Maxine (Sara Waisglass). Ginny is attracted to Maxine's twin brother, Marcus (Felix Mallard).

Flashbacks tell the story of Georgia's adolescence.
