Don and Julie go to the races and Julie is thrilled when she wins,but for Don he just enjoys her warmth and enthusiasm. When the return, Julie invites Don to stay at her flat but he feels obliged t return home. Ivy makes an effort to be nice to Don, so she cooks him a special meal but Don has already eaten with Julie and tells Ivy he just wants her to leave him alone. Alec is annoyed that all he's got is a back street pub. He wants to prove he's still got what it takes. Jim and the residents threaten to remove their custom if Alec sacks Liz and Ron Rogers gives Alec the job of finding 6 artists for a cruise. Mike asks Emily to take on the garage books, but Kevin feels Mike is just using him as an oily rag.
