Vik tells Nita that he's going to Birmingham to see cousin Dev Alahan and takes £1,000 takings to "bank". Sharon is furious when Rita keeps sniping at her. She tries to show Rita that she and Ian are in love but Rita refuses to wish her well. Curly and Ken organise the Freshco's sponsored firework display. Audrey officially opens it and the Croppers hang around hoping for an emergency. Natalie feels sorry for Sharon when she hears that she's married Ian. Ian tells Rita he loves Sharon and is going to make her happy. He warns her that she'll drive Sharon away if she's not careful. Sarah's friend Candice Stowe tries to get her to smoke but Sarah isn't keen. Roy and Hayley spend their time at the firework display spoiling others' fun as they are so cautious about safety. A rocket lands on the first aid tent and starts a fire. Roy takes charge and evacuates the tent but all the first-aiders end up in casualty.
