Episode 2457 (17th October 1984)

Billy buys a gold bracelet for Sally Waterman. Jack packs most of his possessions up and pays Fred to store them in his van whilst the DHSS visit. Vera discovers that Jack has been moving all her furniture out of No.9. She finds he's emptied the house and fears he's sold everything. She goes for him with her handbag before he tells her that he's only fiddling the DHSS. He tells the official, Mrs Walters, that he's had to sell everything bit by bit. He tells her he has no money coming in and the family have left him. He goes over the top with tales of his mother who begs in the streets. When Jack doesn't turn up for work, Bill tells him not to bother asking for work again. When Betty refuses to bring Tony Cunliffe to the Rovers, Bet calls on him and flirts. Sally tries to avoid Billy. When he persists she tells him that she doesn't want to see him any more; he's become too serious. He accuses her of having an affair with Ken. She tells him it's nothing to do with Ken. The DHSS official calls again and finds the Duckworths eating steak in the fully furnished room. She tells Jack that he's not entitled to any benefit and Vera tells him he won't scrounge off her.

Doctor Who, Ncuti Gatwa débarque comme Docteur sur Disney+

Les deux premiers épisodes de cette saison 1 de la nouvelle série Doctor Who (nouvelle fiche série à ajouter) sous l’égide Disney+ sont désormais disponibles sur la plateforme.

Ces premiers épisodes promettent beaucoup de charme, de voix et de vivacité de la part du 15e Docteur : Ncuti Gatwa, que l’on connait de Sex Education et sa compagne Ruby, interprétée par Millie Gibson. Ce rafraichissement est surtout l’occasion pour toutes les personnes qui n’ont jamais eu le courage de commencer Doctor Who car « ohlala, autant de saisons, par où commencer ?! » de le faire aujourd’hui. Car même si l’univers canonique regorge de références, il sera possible de pousser pour la première fois la porte du Tardis, sans aucun souci de compréhension.

Pour la première fois, le monde entier peut enfin voir Doctor Who en simultané puisque les épisodes sont mis en ligne sur Disney+. Dans l’épisode de Noël, on faisait la vraie connaissance du 15e Docteur sous les traits de Ncuti Gatwa (brièvement apparu dans l’épisode spécial précédent) ainsi que celle de Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson plus connue pour Coronation Street) et dans ces deux nouveaux épisode, ils vont plonger dans une station orbitale qui farme des bébés ou encore remonter au premier enregistrement d’un album des Beatles.
