Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin) is a semi-retired television actor. He was the star of a popular cop show of the time, Brazzos. He lives in 14C of the Arconia building. Olivier Putnam (Martin Short) is an unemployed Broadway director who lives in 10D. Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), an apartment renovator, lives at 12E. The three of them didn't know each other until they discovered a shared passion for criminal cases and a certain podcast on the subject. Their interest in these types of cases soon takes another turn when a tenant in the building dies.
The police think it's suicide and quickly conclude the case, but the trio thinks it's murder. They decide to put together a podcast of their investigation.
