Otis and Maeve start their senior year of high school while continuing their long-distance relationship. Maeve is taking writing classes in the U.S. with a successful author who is charismatic but pretentious and dismissive. When Maeve sends a photo of her breasts, Otis tries for a nude but doesn't dare send the photos. Otis, Eric, Ruby, Jackson, Cal and Viv start their new school year at Cavendish College, an ultra-progressive, inclusive and eco-friendly school, much to Eric's delight. The most popular students are around Abbi, Aisha and Roman, an LGBTQ+ trio with whom Ruby struggles to sympathize. Mr. Groff is also on campus, as a math teacher. Otis wants to take advantage of the school's open-mindedness to reopen his clinic, but learns that a student, O, is already practicing sexology. Trying to defend his position, Otis panics and ends up unwillingly projecting one of his nudes. Cal agrees to see him despite the incident: he takes testosterone, which exacerbates his arousal and gives him spontaneous orgasms. Jean, now separated from Jakob, is totally overwhelmed by the arrival of her daughter Joy, but has to agree to host a radio show about sexology, and Otis can see that she won't be able to manage it all. Later, Otis calls Maeve to apologize and they have a phone conversation.
Welcome to the South Side of Chicago, where Frank Gallagher and his six children navigate life's highs and lows in Showtime's hit series, 'Shameless (US)'. Adapted from Paul Abbott's original British series, this American version has been making waves since its debut in 2011. Now with an impressive run of 11 seasons and 135 episodes under its belt, it's time you added this gritty family drama-comedy to your BetaSeries watchlist.
'Shameless (US)' revolves around Frank Gallagher, an alcoholic father brilliantly played by William H. Macy. Despite his numerous flaws, Frank is oddly charismatic - a trait that will have you glued to your screens despite yourself. His dysfunctional yet lovable brood includes Fiona (Emmy Rossum), Lip (Jeremy Allen White), Ian (Cameron Monaghan), Debbie (Emma Kenney), Carl (Ethan Cutkosky), and Liam Gallagher(Christian Isaiah). The kids are left to fend for themselves due to their father's incompetence, leading them down paths that are as hilarious as they are heartbreaking.
The show is far from your typical sitcom; it's a stark portrayal of poverty with all its accompanying challenges. But don't be fooled - amid the chaos and struggles are moments of pure comedy gold that will leave you laughing out loud. The characters' antics drive each episode forward, from Fiona's romantic escapades to Lip's scholarly ambitions – not forgetting Carl's constant brushes with law enforcement. The series also dives deep into relationships, addiction, and various other themes that give it a depth rarely seen in traditional comedies.
