Humanity was decimated by a deadly virus. 2 million people survived. 600 years after our era, the survivors became a primitive people again. They have lost one of their most precious senses: sight.

For many, sight has become something of a legend. No one believes in its real existence anymore. One woman, Maghra (Hera Hilmar), is pregnant and seeks refuge with the Alkenny tribe. Baba Voss (Jason Momoa), the fearless leader of the tribe, welcomes this pregnant woman with twins whose biological father was one of the few humans who could see.

Baba Voss must protect his tribe from a powerful queen, Kane (Sylvia Hoeks), ruler of the Payan kingdom. She will do anything to destroy the twins of Maghra, her sister!

When they are born, Kofun and Haniwa have the ability to see. They have become the target of perpetual attacks by the Payan army and especially by Tamacti Jun (Christian Camargo), one of the Payan army's generals, a brilliant soldier. Paris (Alfre Woodward) is Baba Voss' advisor and is like a mother to him.

The Alkenny's are chased out of their village and have to find a new place.
