Men have been coming and going before the king and Princess Rhaenyra for several months. She has to choose a husband, but she only finds boring and dull people.
Viserys gathers his advisors for the return of Daemon, who has just returned from his fight against the Triarchy. He seems arrogant, but Viserys is proud of what he has accomplished and shows him respect.
At a celebration, Rhaenyra and Alicent talk about her upcoming marriage, which she dreads, and their waning friendship. Later, Rhaenyra runs into Daemon and tells him about the upcoming arranged marriage. Daemon tells her that nothing is really set in stone.
As the night comes, finding a note that takes her to a remote corner of the Kingdom, she meets Daemon again who decides to take her mind off of things. They arrive at a party where debauchery and alcohol reign. They attend a play mocking royalty and his family.
Daemon explains the joys of sex to the princess. Intoxicated by the atmosphere, they get dangerously close. But Daemon resigns himself to go further.
Back at the castle, Rhaenyra, still stirred by the events, gives herself up to Criston Cole, body and soul.
The rumor that Rhaenyra and Daemon are getting closer is quickly enough to reach Otto's ears and he rushes to warn the King.
