The servant Talya tells Alicent that King Viserys has died. Shocked, she does not want the news to get out for the moment. Alicent tells Otto that the King wanted Aegon to succeed him. These last words are authentic. A crisis meeting is set up, but no one seems surprised to see Aegon as heir. Lord Lyman of the Swarms thinks of the plot. Ser Criston reacts violently and kills the Lord. Aegon's wife is immediately sought while getting rid of Daemon and Rhaenyra. The latter will want to oppose Aegon.

Alicent announces to the children that the King has died. Ser Erryk has failed to watch over Aegon and tells Otto that he must find him. Alicent also asks Ser Criston to find Aegon. Aemond wishes to accompany him.
Otto asks the representatives of several houses to pledge allegiance to the new king rather than to Rhaenyra.
Aemond is frustrated that he is not the chosen one. He wonders if he is not the most suitable since Aegon is nowhere to be found.
Alicent goes to Princess Rhaenys Targaryen to ask for her unfailing support.
In the search for Aegon, two camps clash, those who want to eliminate Aegon and those who want to bring him back to the Kingdom.
Otto and Alicent try to manage the situation by informing Rhaenyra on very specific terms. Lord Larys confides in Alicent that Otto has many spies in the Kingdom, including Talya, the Queen's servant...
